The popular app-based food delivery start-up, Swiggy, recently announced that it will soon launch Swiggy Stores, a new extended service by the company that will deliver retail products such as groceries, medicines, baby-care products, etc. to customers.
Currently, Swiggy Stores is being on a pilot project basis in Gurugram where the company has tied up with about 3,500 local sellers – Apollo Pharmacy, HealthKart, Ferns N Petals, Zappfresh, Needs Supermarket, and so on. The plan is to launch the service in all major Indian cities soon.
The Bengaluru-based firm estimates the value of Swiggy Stores to be $3.3 billion. The company, backed by Naspers and Tencent, recently raised $1 billion.
The charges to be levied for below average-sized orders has not been mentioned yet. However, it has been said that deliveries will be made within an hour’s time.
Swiggy makes over 28 million transactions on a monthly basis and is available in 80 cities. The company has 1.25 lakh delivery partners.
