Punjab National Bank (PNB) has recently launched a new card in time for Kumbh Mela 2019. Punjab National Bank announced in a recent statement that it has partnered with the State Government of Uttar Pradesh in an effort to build a model for digitisation for the Kumbh Mela festivities, which will be held in 2019.
The event only occurs once in 12 years and it is estimated that around 12 crore devotees will partake in the event. Punjab National Bank, by launching its new card, is aiming to use this opportunity to digitise and simplify transactions done during the event.
The state-owned lender announced that it had launched the PNB Rupay Card, an indigenous product, which will work even if the merchant does not have an internet connection. As a result, this would enable customers to enjoy fast, convenient, and hassle-free transactions at various shops that will be set up for Kumbh Mela 2019.
Punjab National Bank is one of the oldest banks in the country, having commenced operations in the year 1895. The bank is based out of New Delhi, India and has branches across the country.
