After having been stable for the past two months, the price of petrol increased today. In the capital of the country, New Delhi, the petrol price increased by 9 paise to Rs.70.29 per litre, while the price of petrol remained the same at Rs.67.66 per litre.
In Mumbai, the petrol price increased by 11 paise to Rs.75.91 per litre from Rs.75.80 while in Mumbai as well, the price of diesel remained unchanged at Rs.67.66 per litre. In the capital of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, the price of petrol increased by Rs.72.94 per litre from Rs.72.82 per litre while diesel remained the same in the city at Rs.68.26 per litre.
However, in Kolkata, West Bengal, the price of petrol dropped by 90 paise to Rs.72.38 per litre and the price of diesel fell as well by Rs.1 to Rs.66.40 per litre.
While the global crude oil prices have stabilized over the last few months and currently are around $60 a barrel, according to sources, the increase in petrol prices in several cities is due to the weakened rupee against the dollar.
