Mr. Sunil Subramaniam, who previously served Sundaram Asset Management Company as its chief executive officer, has been appointed as the MD of the company, effective 26 June 2018. He will be replacing Mr. Harsha Viki, who was the previous managing director of the company.
Mr. Subramaniam joined Sundaram Asset Management Company in the year 2005. During his tenure with Sundaram AMC, he has been appointed in various capacities and has handled a number of key positions including that of executive director of sales and marketing, director of sales and global operations, vice president of retail distribution, deputy chief executive officer, and chief executive officer. Mr. Subramaniam is also a board member of Sundaram Asset Management Singapore Pte Ltd.
In total, Mr. Subramaniam has around 34 years of experience in the finance sector. In the past, he worked with several leading banks including the Bank of America, State Bank of India (SBI), and American Express Bank. Furthermore, he is a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance, formerly called the Indian Institute of Bankers.
Over the last three financial years, Sundaram AMC’s assets under management rose by over 72% to touch Rs.28,166 crore on 31 May 2018 from Rs.22,169 crore on 1 July 2015. The company’s investor accounts or folios have also increased by around 33%. The company also has a pan-India presence, with 89 offices set up across the country.
