Due to poor sales over the last few months, Maruti Suzuki has decided to roll out a stripped-down version of their highest selling car, the Alto, which will be known as the Alto H1. To boost sales, the Alto H1 will be specifically designed for cab aggregators working with Uber and Ola.
The Alto H1 will be priced at Rs.3.64 lakh (ex-showroom price in Chennai, Tamil Nadu) and will come with just air conditioning and power steering. Since the car is made for cab drivers, it will be priced reasonably and will not have any high-end features like automatic roll-down windows, music system, and so on. The Maruti Suzuki Alto H1 will come with a mileage of 22 km/litre, which will be one of the selling points for cab drivers.
According to Maruti Suzuki, commercial buyers or cab aggregators contribute towards an average of 8% of the total sales that they’ve made in the past.
