In what would send shivers down the spines of cab aggregators Uber and Ola, who have enjoyed being at the helm of the cab aggregator business in the country, car manufacturers Mahindra and Mahindra announced they will be rolling out their very own taxi service called Glyd. With electric vehicles sure to be the future, especially for public transport in the coming years, Mahindra and Mahindra are already a step ahead and will roll out their e-vehicles that will be used for their cab service Glyd.
Glyd has rolled out its services in Mumbai already and Mahindra and Mahindra expects to enter the other metropolitan cities in the near future. Glyd will only have Mahindra and Mahindra electric vehicles and will offer premier service, such as a privacy screen for passengers, air purifiers, curated entertainment system for web conferences, and wrap-around headrests for passengers.
With the public transport sector expected to turn completely electric in the coming years with expected emission norms, Ola has announced that will have 1 million electric vehicles on they roads of India by 2021.
