One of India’s most prolific recruiters, Infosys has had a tough year in terms of numbers, with the company recording its first negative growth in employee hiring. This is the first time since its inception that the company recorded this performance. Known to recruit around 25,000 employees every year, Infosys has for long been a sought-after company. This financial year, however, has been different, with only 6,000 people hired.
While Infosys has an overall employee strength of more than 1.9 lakh, the number of people quitting the company was more than the number of people joining. 7,000 individuals quit the company in the current financial year, while 6,000 joined the rosters.
5,700 employees joined the roster in the first three quarters of the year, a drop of 12,300 compared to the same quarter last year.
With issues like tightened norms for the H1-B visa already plaguing the industry, this news could impact the company.
Infosys is already facing heat, with a difference of opinion between the current management and its founders. While the company has been able to sort this without breaking the bank, the company could remain in the news for different reasons.
