HDFC Bank comes up with its first Humanoid Banking Assistant


The leading private sector bank  HDFC recently launched its first humanoid banking assistant, namely “Ira”.  Ira stands for Intelligent Robotic Assistant.  It is a human shaped robot designed to help customers and banking staff carry on their daily transitions and other banking activities smoothly. The robot has been developed in India.

The idea behind the development of this robot is to smoothen the banking process including customer service, marketing, process automation and employee assistant. Currently, the bank has received only one robot, which it is going to install at a branch in Mumbai and analyse customers’ reaction to this newly launched technology. Based on customers’ reaction, later, the bank is going to install further robots in its various branches across the country. Along with Intelligent Robotic Assistant, HDFC Bank also recently launched the second edition of its Digital Innovation Summit to introduce further innovative banking and payment solutions.
