In an event held at New Delhi, e-commerce giant Flipkart announced their partnership with ASUS. Flipkart’s Head of Smartphones Kalyan Krishnamurthy and Ajay Veer Yadav announced an exclusive, long-term strategic partnership with the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer.
The partnership will make Flipkart the primary sales channel for ASUS ZenFones. Furthermore, customers who use Flipkart to purchase ASUS phones will also have the benefit of exclusive access to ZenFones.
During the event, Ajay Yadav stated that one in four phones bought in India is through Flipkart. He also added that Flipkart has achieved a 60% growth in the mobile phone section as compared to the average industry growth rate of 14%. Additionally, Flipkart hopes to contribute towards adding the next 100 million smartphone users in the next two years.
ASUS CEO Jerry Shen’s press release stated that the company sees tremendous opportunity in developing products specific to the needs of Indian consumers. He further elaborated that the partnership with Flipkart would help ASUS gain more insight into the minds of Indian customers and increase customer awareness of the products that ASUS has to offer.
The first product that will be launched under the new partnership is the Zenfone Max Pro M1. The smartphone will be launched on the e-commerce website on 23 April. This partnership also aids in Flipkart’s goal to have 40% of the total smartphone sales in the country by 2020.
This partnership will see a collaboration between both companies in terms of the creating products that are specifically tailored for their Indian consumer base.
