The month of September was good in terms of job creation, with data from the EPFO payroll indicating that a total of 9.73 lakh jobs were created in the month. According to a report by The Economic Times, a total of 79.48 lakh jobs have been created in the last 13 months.
The number of jobs created in September 2018 is over double the number of jobs created in September 2017. A total of 4.11 lakh jobs were created in September 2017.
The most number of jobs went to individuals in the age group of 18-21 years, with 2.69 lakh jobs created under this category. 2.67 lakh jobs were created for individuals in the age group of 22-25 years.
These numbers are however provisional, as per the report, given the fact that employee records are updated continuously.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation currently has over 6 crore members. It manages the social security funds of employees in both, the organised and semi-organised sectors of the country.
