Design Café, a home interiors startup company owned by GS E-Commerce Pvt. Ltd., raised Rs.200 crore in an equity-financing round led by private equity investment company, WestBridge Capital. Fireside Ventures, which led the previous funding round, also participated in the institutional funding round.
The funds, according to sources, will be used to expand the company’s reach to six other cities included Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi.
The Bengaluru-based firm had raised an undisclosed amount, last July, from Fireside Ventures, along with angel investor, Siddharth Pansari, and founder of the Salarpuria group, Apurva Salarpuria. The advisor of the deal was Sprout Capital.
The online decor company was founded by architects and designers, Sheezan Bhojani and Gita Ramanan in the year 2011. Initially, it functioned as a traditional interior design company but launched the digital platform only in the year 2015.
The platform developed by the company allows clients to visualise their homes with interiors in virtual reality. The idea of the founders is to offer end-to-end interior solutions to clients. The company witnessed success at the initial stage and rapidly scaled up allowing the firm to receive funds from the investment giant, WestBridge Capital.
