Forbes Magazine recently released the list of the richest individuals in the world, with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates heading it. The list of ‘World’s Billionaires’ 2017 has 101 Indians in it, the first time the country has over 100 billionaires.
Gates has a net worth of $86 billion, $11 billion more than the previous year. Mukesh Ambani was the richest Indian in the list, with a wealth of $23.2 billion, ranking him at 33 in the list.
Warren Buffett, chief of Berkshire Hathaway came second in the list, with a wealth of $75.6 billion. Jeff Bezos of Amazon, with a wealth of $72.8 billion came third. Amancio Ortega of Zara ($71.3 billion) and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook ($56 billion) complete the top five.

The United States of America has the most number of billionaires, 565 to be exact, followed by China (319), Germany (114), and India (101).
Some of the biggest Indians in the list include Lakshmi Mittal ($16.4 billion), Azim Premji, Dilip Shanghvi, Shiv Nadar, and Kumar Birla, the chairman designate of the combined Vodafone-Idea entity.
Savitri Jindal is the richest Indian woman in the list with a wealth of $5.2 billion. Other Indian women in the list include Smita Crishna-Godrej ($2.5 billion), Kiran Mazumdar Shaw ($2.1 billion), and Leena Tiwari ($2 billion).
PayTM’s Vijay Shekhar ($1.3 billion) and Patanjali’s Acharya Balkrishna ($2.5 billion) also found themselves in the list.
The combined net worth of the 2,043 individuals in the list stands at $7.67 trillion, more than the yearly budget of most countries.
