The National Finance Olympiad (NFO) declared the names of its grand finale winners recently. This year, four students from the National Academy for Learning (NAFL) of Bengaluru won the first position in the Finance Olympiad.
The winners are – Shivani Gowda, Sanyukta Kamath, Rakshashri Nataraja and Siddarth Vinay. Shivani and Sanyukta were from Class 8 while Rakshashri was of Class 11, and Siddarth Vinay of Class 12. The winning team received a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh. The NFO conducted its grand finale in Delhi in the 1st week of February.
In a statement published in the Time of India, Rakshashri, who is one of the winners, said “We were tested on current affairs, general knowledge, the financial world, terminology and stock markets”.
The Finance Olympiad is an initiative to make young children aware of the importance and art of managing money. It is a yearly event that allows students and schools participants in three rounds namely – School Olympiad round, Regional round and National Grand Finale round.
There are three levels of participation based on age group of students. Students studying in Class 8, 9 and 10 are eligible for quality for the [email protected] level. Students studying in Class 11 and 12 are eligible for the [email protected] level and the university students aged between 17 to 22 years are eligible for the [email protected] level. The Olympiad aims at inculcating the habit analyzing finance in children so that, as grown-ups, they can save, invest and manage their finance wisely.
