Bank credit grows to Rs.86.16 crore, bank deposits to Rs.113.53 crore

In the fortnight that ended on 22 June 2018, the bank credit stood at Rs.86.16 crore and bank deposits at Rs.113.53 crore, according to the data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

In the previous fortnight that ended on 8 June 2018, bank credit had increased by 12.67 per cent and bank deposits by 8.35 per cent.

In the corresponding period in 2017 that ended on 23 June 2017, the bank credit stood at Rs.76.35 crore and the bank deposits at Rs.105.51 crore. This shows an increase in bank credit by 12.84 per cent and bank deposits by 7.59 per cent.

In the previous fortnight that ended on 8 June 2018, the bank credit stood at Rs.85.98 crore and bank deposits at Rs.114.04 – an increase of 12.67 per cent and 8.35 per cent respectively.

The non-food bank credit increased by 11.1 per cent, loans to industry grew by 1.4 per cent, advances to agriculture and allied activities increased by 6.4 per cent year-on-year in the month of May 2018.

In 2017, the non-food bank credit had increased by 4.1 per cent, loans to industry by 2.1 per cent and advances to agriculture and allied activities by 6.4 per cent year-on-year in the month of May 2017.
