Ather Energy, the electric bike manufacturer has entered into a strategic partnership with Godrej Nature’s Basket to widen its fast-charging dock network in India, or AtherGrid as they call it.
Ather Energy signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the grocery supermarket chain, Godrej Nature’s Basket on Tuesday to put up charging stations at all Nature’s Basket outlets in the country. Godrej has grocery outlets throughout the country under the name, Nature’s Basket.
Currently, the Bengaluru-based company has launched the bike only in Bengaluru and it already has 31 charging docks and 24 charging points in the city. The partnership with Godrej will eventually increase the number and the two-wheeler owners will have access to a charging spot at a distance of about every 4 km. The charging dock at Nature’s Basket, Sadashivnagar, Bengaluru has already been set up.
The electric vehicle manufacturer has plans to launch its two-wheelers in Chennai next. It will set up about 10 to 15 charging docks and then go ahead with the official launch of the two-wheelers.
Through the alliance, the AtherGrid will grow in 35 cities in India. The charging docks set up through the partnership, between Ather Energy and Godrej Nature’s Basket, will be a free service and accessible by all electric vehicle users until September this year.
Ather Energy has, so far, launched two electric scooters in Bengaluru – Ather 340 and Ather 450 priced Rs.1.13 lakh and Rs.1.24 lakh, respectively.
